Too many children with hearing loss aren’t getting adequate help and are being put at risk for social, emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties, the Better Hearing Institute warned August 4, citing a national study exploring the unforeseen consequences of untreated hearing loss in America’s children.

Second Quarter Hearing Aid Unit Sales Rise by 1%

After a 1.1% increase in sales during the first quarter of 2008, unit sales of hearing aids in the US held steady in the second quarter–actually increasing by 0.8%–in the face of a gloomy economy. Sales were buoyed by a 9.5% increase in VA dispensing activity, while private sector (non-VA) unit sales decreased by 0.6%.
