The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation), Rockville, Md, recently awarded a record $574,000 to 65 people in support of groundbreaking research investigations, research travel stipends, doctoral and master’s education, and clinical developments, much of which was specifically designated to aspiring audiologists and hearing scientists.

The awards were distributed with the aim of providing funding to ensure excellence in training and support innovative new research. Annually, these awards help to advance and advocate the future of audiology, speech-language pathology, and speech, language, and hearing science in an effort to provide the best possible treatments for the more than 49 million children and adults with a communication disorder.

“The ASHFoundation is very pleased and proud that we were able to raise an historical amount of funds and provide the largest number of individuals with grants and scholarships in the history of this organization,” says ASHFoundation Immediate Past President and audiologist Dennis Hampton. “There are so many deserving and aspiring audiologists and hearing scientists in the field of communication sciences, and these awards show the strong commitment that the ASHFoundation and our generous donors have to building the professions and helping these individuals.”
