Cambridge, Mass— Lantos Technologies Inc, a company developing 3D scanning technology for hearing health applications, has received $4.1 million in private funding, according to an SEC filing.

Under the leadership of Professor Douglas Hart of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering Department, Lantos has been working to commercialize a 3D digital scanner capable of measuring ear canal shape and tissue compliance.

If successfully developed, the technology has the potential to eliminate uncertainties associated with manual ear canal fittings and improve the performance of custom-made hearing products, such as hearing aids, audio ear buds, and hearing conservation products.

In September 2010, Lantos received $1.6 million in funding.
