The Scott Haug Audiology Foundation announced that its 30th Annual Scott Haug Hill Country Audiology Retreat, held September 25-28, 2014 at the T Bar M Ranch Resort & Conference Center in the hill country of Texas, was a great success. This final retreat, attended by 130 audiologists and hosted by members of the Scott Haug Audiology Foundation, was titled “Going Out with a Bang!”
Attendees and presenters gathered in New Braunfels, Texas for the 30th Annual Scott Haug Audiology Retreat.
The 3-day conference, which offered continuing education in audiology and a range of fun social activities, drew many leaders from the hearing care profession. Featured presenters at the retreat included Charles Berlin, PhD, Victor Bray, PhD, Dave Fabry, PhD, Linda Hood, PhD, Gus Mueller, PhD, Gyl Kasewurm, AuD, Ryan McCreery, PhD, Rose Minette, MA, Jerry Northern, PhD, Ross Roeser, PhD, Robert Sweetow, PhD, Robert Traynor, EdD, and Don Worthington, PhD, among others.
“Scott would have been proud of the work that was done to promote his beloved audiology,” reported Foundation representatives via the announcement. “He would also have enjoyed seeing the enduring friendships and fellowship that the conference fostered.”
According to the Scott Haug Audiology Foundation website, the Annual Scott Haug Hill Country Audiology Retreat has been well-known over the years as an enjoyable reunion of old friends and colleagues in the audiology field. The retreat was named in honor and memory of a popular young audiologist who died unexpectedly in 1984. The Scott Haug Foundation was established by his friends to sponsor an annual meeting that would reflect Scott’s commitment both to professional excellence and to fun, and interaction among audiologists.
The work of the Scott Haug Foundation will reportedly continue through the Texas Academy of Audiology. Scholarships and sponsorships of speakers will continue the legacy that the founding Board members created through the memory of Scott Haug.
