Ida Institute, Naerum, Denmark, announced that it will be giving a presentation of global perspectives on the future of hearing care at the AudiologyNOW! AAA 2015 Conference. Based on survey outcomes from Ida Institute’s global initiative, Vision2020, the presentation will be held on Friday, March 27, in Room 212AB from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

The Institute reports that in December 2013, the organization set out to collaboratively create a global vision for hearing health care in 2020. The initiative, Vision2020:Creating the Future of Hearing Health Care engaged hearing care professionals, thought leaders, educators, and others in the field of audiology in a 14-month exploration of how to effect changes towards patient-centered care among wider audiences worldwide.

“The landscape in which hearing care takes place is undergoing enormous change due to shifting population demographics, advances in technology, and the growing burden of care for national health systems,” Ida Institute Managing Director Lise Lotte Bundesen said in the organization’s announcement. “Through Vision 2020, we aim to help formulate an overall vision and identify a way forward that creates growth, relevance and viability for the future of hearing health care.”

According to Ida Institute, the Vision 2020 process involved several months of virtual meetings with professionals from around the world to gain global perspectives and insights. At two meetings held in Skodsborg, Denmark, participants built on insights from the virtual meetings, gained inspiration from expert presenters, and helped to identify projects for future development.

At the March 27 session at the AAA 2015 Conference, titled “Creating the Future of Hearing Health Care: Vision2020,” a panel of experts will address the expanded role of The Hearing Care Manager of the Future, exploring the tools audiologists will need to serve patients as the field continues to evolve. The need for clinicians to use the new tele-health platform to offer services to their patients while continuing to maintain a high standard of patient-centered care will also be discussed.

Creating the Future of Hearing Health Care: Vision2020 is a Level II session and CEU credits (0.15) are available. More information is available at the Ida Institute’s Booth (#401) during the conference.
