Jay Hall, PhD, Salus University

Salus University in Elkins Park, Pa, has announced that James (Jay) W. Hall III, PhD, an internationally renowned audiology expert, has accepted an appointment as professor at the University’s Osborne College of Audiology. In his new position, Hall will serve on the faculty of the College’s distance education program and assist with the program’s growth and global development, according to Victor Bray, PhD, dean of the Osborne College of Audiology.

In his new role, Hall will teach online Advanced Studies certificate courses, which include the specialty areas of tinnitus, hyperacusis, cochlear implants, and vestibular sciences and disorders. Salus University reports that each Advanced Studies certificate program is designed for working audiologists who hold a degree that is recognized in their country for the clinical practice of audiology, and desire specialized education in a specific area of clinical care.

Hall will also teach courses in the Doctor of Audiology Online Bridge Degree Program at Salus, designed specifically for audiologists with a master’s degree who wish to advance their knowledge base and clinical skills, especially in countries where the AuD degree is not available. The AuD Bridge degree program includes intensive, hands-on, face-to-face workshops taught by experts recognized throughout the world.

A member of numerous professional organizations, Hall is a founder of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), a Fellow of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and holds certification from the American Board of Audiology (ABA). He has presented more than 1,500 abstracts or presentations during his career.

Hall earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from American International College and a master’s degree in speech pathology from Northwestern University. He received his PhD in audiology from Baylor University College of Medicine.
