Effectiveness of Informational Counseling on Acceptance of Hearing Loss Among Older Adults

  This study suggests that about one-third of socially active older adults who do not wear hearing aids and do not voluntarily visit hearing clinics are either unaware of their hearing loss or are in denial of the hearing loss. Informational counseling, even provided by a relatively inexperienced clinician, can help about 50% of such individuals in accepting their hearing loss immediately after counseling.
