Siemens

Siemens Hearing Instruments announces the promotions of Cindy Pope to major accounts manager and Carolyn Smaka, MS, to national customer service manager.

PopePope, who works in the Cerritos, CA, office, will be responsible for the management of the company’s national corporate accounts. A 10-year veteran of the company, she most recently served as national accounts coordinator. Pope attended Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA.
SmakaSmaka assumes responsibilities for audiology, technical and customer support functions nationwide from Siemens’ Piscataway, NJ, facility. She most recently worked as a sales representative after joining the company’s audiology department three years ago. Smaka graduated from Hunter College in New York with an MS in Communication Sciences and Audiology.
HedrickBradenAlso announced were the appointments of Mark Hedrick, Steve Braden and Craig Daunheimer, MS, to the sales department. Hedrick, who received an MA in Audiology at the Univ. of Texas, will assist with sales for that state, while Braden will assume responsibility for Florida.
DaunheimerDaunheimer graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with an MS in Audiology and has over five years of experience in the hearing health care industry as a clinical and dispensing audiologist. He will be responsible for client accounts in the Northeast Region.

BaezSymphonix
Symphonix® Devices Inc, announces the appointment of Carlos Baez as vice-president of research and development. Prior to joining the company, Baez served as vice president of engineering at a hearing technology manufacturing and distribution firm based in Fremont, CA, and was one of the founders of a Redwood City, CA, based hearing healthcare and communications company. Baez holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia Univ. and an MS in the same subject from the Univ. of California, Berkeley.


IngraoHearing Instrument Manufacturers’ Software Association (HIMSA)
HIMSA has added Brad Ingrao, a practicing audiologist and adjunct lecturer in audiology at Northeastern Univ., to the organization. In his audiological work, Ingrao has served various special populations, including pediatrics, and has developed special interests in patient education, earmold technology and computer applications for audiology. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in audiology from the State Univ. of New York at New Paltz.


KauffmanThe Hearing Review
Jesse Kauffman has joined The Hearing Review as associate editor. Kauffman received his BA in history from UCLA and studied at the graduate level at Stanford University before joining the magazine’s staff. Based at Medical World Communications’ Los Angeles office, he will also serve as editor of Hearing Products Report and Respiratory Therapy Products magazines.
