productReal-Ear/Hearing Aid Analyzer
Audioscan, Dorchester, Canada, introduces its Audioscan® Verifit® VF-1 real-ear/hearing aid analyzer, a desktop system designed to allow quick and accurate evaluation of all types of hearing instruments, including digitals and directionals. Innovations include real speech and live speech tests with perceptually-significant data analysis and presentation, and the ability to simultaneously present and analyze two different signals from two different directions for evaluation of directional instruments. These are complemented by spectral analysis capabilities, noise and tone-burst signals, and a battery of ANSI S3.22-1996 tests. Additional features include dual probe modules for binaural fittings, a built-in telephone magnetic field and test loop, and a built-in battery simulator and drain meter.

Authorized Hearing Systems (AHS), Plymouth, MN, offers the UltraLink Express, which is designed to allow clients to be fit with state-of-the-art, programmable, completely-in-the-canal instruments in less than an hour. Five different sized fitting sleeves and interchangeable, color-coated wax protection reportedly make fittings simple and fast. The instrument offers the features of the company’s UltraLink products, including: reduced quiet in noise; low distortion; pre- and post-emphasis circuitry; feedback management; and accurate, flexible fittings.


productAudio Repair Workstation
Kingwood Industrial Products, Hackettstown, NJ, introduces its audio repair workstation. The unit is an all-steel bench with two locking shelves that extend to a width of 5 feet. It includes a 26A two speed Redwing motor, two resin splash hoods with shields, a steel spindle on the left side of the motor and a chuck on the right. The workstation also includes a Model 62 Super Sucker Dust Collector to keep airborne dust from entering the lab and a complete Gast vacuum pump system, including hand wand, 5 needle tips, and an inline debris filter for removing wax and debris from the hearing aid. A portable hand wand UV light curing system with timer is included.


productHearing Aid Cleaning and Disinfecting
Oaktree Products Inc, Chesterfield, MO, is introducing a new, improved version of its AudioWipe® brand towelletes. The wipes are designed for cleaning and disinfecting hearing aids, earmolds, and headphones. The no-alcohol formula will reportedly not harm rubber, plastic, silicone or acrylic. In addition, the new version features a more durable towel that will not shred. The wipes are available in individually wrapped packets and in a 36-count patient size.

Hal-Hen, Garden City Park, NY, offers the Welch Allyn video otoscope system. The otoscope is pre-focused and is designed to be easy to use. Fully self-contained, the unit attaches to most video monitors or computers that accept standard RCA-style video input. Available with a choice of standard nickel cadmium or new technology lithium ion style rechargeable handle, the system is compatible with standard Welch Allyn 3.5V handles. It includes video cable, power handle, and disposable specula. Real-time images of the ear canal and tympanic membrane are obtained and archived using optional video cards and printers.

Miracle-Ear, Plymouth, MN, offers the Interpreter, a wearer-selectable omnidirectional and directional microphone with 4-channel, 2-memory DSP. The microphone mode is activated via the company’s software, and is available on semi-ITE and ITE shell styles.


productInfrared Listening System
HITEC, Burr Ridge, IL, offers its ClearSounds 2000 infrared TV listening system. It is hearing-aid compatible and can be used with 95KHz public IR systems. The system allows one person to watch TV at the level that works best for him or her while allowing others to listen at a different sound level, according to the company.
