 BTE
GN ReSound, Bloomington, Minn, has expanded its Canta family with the addition of the Canta2 Power BTE. The Canta 280 provides greater gain and output combined with feedback management, a programmable volume control, and direct audio input. The sound quality of Canta2 digital hearing instrument is the result of the digital cochlea dynamics compression system used in all Canta models. This system is designed to closely mimic a normal human cochlea, resulting in a more natural sound. The Canta2 also features a digital cochlea dynamics compression system, a maximum stable gain curve for feedback management, push-button loudness control, and a telecoil option.


 Cylindrical Performance
SonionMictrotronic, Minnetonka, Minn, offers its newest and smallest Series 8000 omni-directional microphone design. Cylindrically-shaped for all applications, its performance is consistent throughout environmental extremes, with EMI and ESD protection. Also offered are flat frequency response, as well as improved manufacturing and soldering requirements. The microphones are reportedly ideal for matching applications.


 Coiled Communication Tubes
Westone Laboratories Inc, Colorado Springs, offers coiled tubes for virtually any communication application. Coiled tubes are in regular use by police and fire departments, military units, and television stations. Westone’s new tube processing system allows the coiled tubes to be more flexible and customized to better fit the user. Coiled tubes can be ordered according to the company’s standard design, or the user can specify where on the tube the coil begins and ends. Westone coiled tubes are available for either the right or left ear.


 Infant Screening Device
Starkey Laboratories Inc, Eden Prairie, Minn, features the DP2000, a state-of-the-art otoacoustic emissions infant screening device. Weighing less than six ounces, without the computer, the DP2000 has a range from 500 Hz to 16,000 Hz. The system allows the examiner to save up to 10 curves per ear per test session for each patient. The system comes with seven different sizes of disposion for each patient.


 Laser Shell Patching Kit
Warner Tech-Care Products, formerly Hagemeyer Tech-Care Products, Minneapolis, offers a patching kit designed for laser shell patching. This kit includes a small portable UV light, polymers, buffing wheel, UV Loctite adhesive, carbide cutter, and the company’s new Clean-Wipes, pop-up wipes specifically formulated for cleaning hearing products.  Universal Acoustic Impedance Probe
Interacoustics, Eden Prairie, Minn, introduces its new universal combination probe system, designed to provide optimum flexibility and to be used for both hand-held screening and clinical applications. This uniquely designed, slimline, lightweight probe, supplied with two quickly interchangeable attachments, will be fitted as standard to most new Interacoustics impedance instrument models.
