David Carr fits a Help America Hear candidate with a hearing device at no cost.

The Help America Hear Program recently held its first event at Montefiore Hospital, New York, providing hearing instruments free for 14 people in need.

The program was created in 2008 by EarQ Group, Syracuse, NY, in partnership with the Foundation for Sight & Sound, aiming  to provide hearing aids to those with limited financial resources.

"This is a cause that I believe in," says Cary Dawson, senior VP for Ear Q. "When we presented the Help America Hear Program to our staff at EarQ Group, everyone was eager to assist in making it a success."

EarQ President Ed Keller says that with the help of EarQ Group members, they can benefit eligible candidates across the country."

EarQ Group is a nationwide network of more than 760 practice locations that are independently owned and operated. It provides members with practice support including value-based marketing, business tools, audiology support, and staff training.

The Foundation for Sight and Sound, a registered 501C corporation, aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by various visual and/or auditory challenges.

In other news, The Help America Hear brunch honors David Carr, president of McGuire’s Hearing & Audiological Services, Riverhead, NY, and the Help America Hear Program. All contributions and proceeds from the purchase of seats and tables will help further the cause.
