To recognize May as "Better Hearing and Speech Month," the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) is offering a free webinar that will discuss the basic information that consumers "need to know" about hearing aids.

The 30-minute webinar will be broadcast on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 2 pm ET, and feature Shu-Chen Peng, PhD, CCC-A, an audiologist in CDRH’s Office of Device Evaluation.

The topics will include basic information about hearing loss, hearing aids, and the different types and styles available. Peng will also discuss how consumers can “get the most out of hearing aids.”

After the presentation, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions.

To join the webinar at the above time, click here. Then click the "Enter as a Guest" button, fill in your name, and click "Enter Room."

Closed captioning will be available for those with hearing loss.

Although there will be only a limited number of spots available for participating, FDA stated in its press release that materials will be made available on the FDA website for those who could not attend.
