Idaho insurers are now required to cover the cost of hearing aids for children, after a rule change passed unanimously by the Idaho legislature on January 17, 7KTVB reported.

According to the report, nearly 50 people attended the Idaho House Business Committee’s session, many of them imploring the committee to consider the financial strain congenital deafness could place on a family with multiple children requiring hearing devices.

Additionally, as part of the rule change, insurers must also cover the cost for accompanying speech therapy.
