Phonak, a global provider of hearing aids and wireless communications solutions, announced its sponsorship of the Child’s Voice Golf Tournament on Tuesday, June 12 at the Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill. The annual golf outing is among the key programs of Child‘s Voice, a national listening and spoken language program for children with hearing loss.
“Helping children rediscover the world of sound is something we’re extremely proud of at Phonak,” said Jan Metzdorff, president of Phonak US. “It’s why we devote so many resources to advancing the field of pediatric audiology while developing parent-trusted pediatric hearing solutions. We’re delighted to sponsor neighboring organizations like Child’s Voice that help improve the lives of children with hearing loss.”
Over 200 golfers and friends will be treated to a special guest appearance as LPGA Pro and Phonak Ambassador Kaylin Yost attends the tournament as a guest player and speaker. Yost won a gold medal at the 2017 Deaflympics Summer Games in which she represented Team USA in the golf category. In addition to her bringing home a gold medal, the 26-year old Ft Lauderdale, Florida native and lifelong hearing aid wearer is also working to inspire children and young adults with hearing loss by sharing her personal story of how she overcame the challenges of hearing loss.
“As both a golfer and a hearing loss advocate, I am both excited and honored to be playing at this tournament,” said Yost, who is also a Phonak hearing aid wearer. “It’s so inspiring to see this community come together to raise money for a cause that’s very near and dear to my heart. It’s also an opportunity to show children, teens, and even young adults that hearing loss should never hold you back from achieving your dreams in life.”
The golf tournament is a scramble format, featuring on-course competitions such as closest to the pin, longest drive, and some exciting opportunities to “Challenge a Child’s Voice graduate” including a putting contest. Child’s Voice graduat
