Cochlear Americas, Denver, has announced the hiring of Susan Van Horne as vice president of marketing. Van Horne will be responsible for strategic marketing initiatives, corporate and marketing communications, sales support, advertising, and public relations. Before joining Cochlear, Van Horne had served nine years at Valleylab, Tyco International in Boulder, Colo, the world leader in electrosurgery and ultrasonic surgery systems. In her most recent position as marketing director, strategy & technology development at Valleylab, she was responsible for product development, portfolio management, assessment of strategic marketing initiatives, and management of key business relationships.

The company also announced the winners of the second annual Graeme Clark Cochlear Scholarship, an award open to Cochlear Nucleus® cochlear implant recipients. The Graeme Clark Cochlear Scholarship Foundation is a fund intended to provide college-age students with tuition assistance. The winners are Dmitry Kashlev, of Newington, Conn, a freshman at Massachusetts Institute of Technology majoring in electrical engineering and computer science; Cami Noorda, of Henderson, Nev, a freshman at Brigham Young University majoring in secondary education with a visual arts emphasis; Caitlin Parton, of Westport, Conn, a freshman at the University of Chicago majoring in English and art history; and JoAnna Waldhour, of Hardeeville, SC, a junior at East Carolina University majoring in English with a concentration in writing.

GN ReSound
GN ReSound has announced that Drianis Duran has further expanded her role as a trainer for the company. She has been a training consultant for GN ReSound in Florida and Puerto Rico territories for the past 2 years. Duran will remain the trainer for GN ReSound in these areas but will add regional sales manager to her list of responsibilities. Prior to joining GN ReSound, she practiced diagnostic audiology in a clinical setting and also dispensed advanced technology hearing instruments in a private practice. In addition, the company has announced that Linda Jacobson has recently joined the GN ReSound sales team. She will cover Tennessee, Georgia, the Florida Panhandle, Virginia, and New York. As an inside sales representative, her responsibilities will include educating customers about the products, services, and special programs offered by the company. Prior to becoming an inside sales representative, Jacobson was a customer care representative for the company. She came to GN ReSound after spending 8 years in the veterinarian field, where she was an office manager and technician.

The American Tinnitus Association (ATA), Portland, Ore, has been recognized by the National Health Council (NHC) for full compliance with the Council’s “Good Operating Practices.” The NHC’s certification is reserved for nonprofit health-focused organizations that are supported by public donations. Certification assures the public that an organization operates at the highest levels of efficiency, is carrying out its mission, and has public accountability.
