Unknown Can a chicken help cure hearing loss and tinnitus? The answer, shockingly, is “yes,’” according to the Hearing Health Foundation (HHF). And the Foundation adds that the promise of a cure for hearing loss and tinnitus is very real.

A  discovery that chickens have the ability to spontaneously restore their hearing by regenerating their damaged hair cells after suffering hearing loss is promising, according to HHF. While humans and mammals do not naturally regenerate hair cells, HHF’s Hearing Restoration Project is aiming to enable just that. With sufficient funding, they say their researchers estimate clinical trials within 10 years. Its new public service announcement highlights the details.
