The Illinois Academy of Audiology, Elk Grove Village, Ill, is preparing for its 16th annual convention, planned in Chicago from January 28 to 30, 2009.

The event will be held at the Drake Hotel, with the theme "Advocating For Our Future."

Pre-convention classes on January 28 will include manufacturer’s training seminars and a Preceptor Development session. Official convention activities will kick off at 1 pm, when the manufacturer/supplier MarketPlace opens and technical sessions begin.

"Our program is in its final stages of development and is once again a veritable ‘Who’s Who’ of the best audiology has to offer," said Christine Lomey Ulinski, AuD, co-VP of education.  "Sessions will focus on topics that can be implemented immediately into your practice." Forums designed to stimulate discussion cover a range of topics, such as ethics, balancing family and practice, pediatrics, women and leadership, issues in private practice, and the future of audiology.

Presentations will focus on amplification, neurodiagnostics, tinnitus, implantable devices, coding, vestibular studies, pediatric diagnostics, FM technology, educational audiology, auditory processing, evidence-based practice, ethics and pharmacology.

Peter Sotiropoulos, AuD, co-VP of education, says the event will feature expanded and enhanced opportunities for the manufacturer and supplier partners. "We will provide more room for networking with attendees, seating for the numerous food and beverage functions, and adding some much requested face time during the events that are held in the marketplace, by redesigning the registration and exhibit area."

Manufacturer/supplier registration is available now; attendee registration begins in November.
