Stäfa, Switzerland — Phonak has announced that its Fourth European Pediatric Conference, “A Sound Foundation through Early Amplification,“ will be held on November 14-15, 2011, at the Hotel Marmara Taksim, Istanbul, Turkey.

“We intentionally chose Istanbul to encourage countries of the Middle East to participate in the event. Phonak wants to keep up the tradition to examine the challenges and solutions around improving outcomes for children with hearing loss around the world,” says Ora Buerkli, vice president of product marketing.

The chairman of this year’s conference is Professor John Bamford, Human Communication and Deafness Division, School of Psychological Sciences, University of Manchester, UK.

The program will feature a panel of 17 international experts, who will present their latest research, as well as a keynote address by Anu Sharma.

Session topics will include:

  • Identification and assessment – electrophysiological and behavioral;
  • Current developments in amplification – fitting rules, frequency compression, and cochlear implants;
  • Family support – putting parents at the center of interventions; and
  • Auditory neuropathy, optimal amplification, and outcome assessment via the clinical forum session.
