Livonia, Mich —The International Hearing Society (IHS) has announced that Massachusetts State Representative John Scibak (D-South Hadley) will be present to welcome convention attendees and recognize them for their dedicated efforts in helping the hearing impaired during the opening keynote lunch on September 15, 2011, at the 60th Annual IHS Convention & Expo.

Scibak is a longtime advocate for those with hearing loss and is the lead sponsor of H.325, a bill that would provide hearing aid insurance benefits for Massachusetts residents. In addition to Scibak’s participation at the convention, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino have also extended personal greetings to IHS convention attendees.

IHS also announced that the Massachusetts Hearing Society has been selected to receive the chapter of the year award for its role in forwarding hearing aid legislation, including working directly with Rep Scibak to develop a strategy to get hearing aids covered by insurance.
