Somerset, NJ — Oticon Medical presented several papers and conducted workshops at The Third International Symposium on Bone Conduction Hearing – Craniofacial Osseointegration (OSSEO), held in Sarasota, Fla.

The annual multidisciplinary conference, sponsored by Oticon Medical, brought together a symposium that explored findings from leading bone anchored clinics on the benefits of patient choice in bone anchored hearing solutions, clinical experience with pediatric populations, as well as new technological developments in Oticon Medical’s Ponto Pro system.

A total of 325 physicians, clinical audiologists, and industry leaders in the ear and craniofacial surgical community attended the symposium. In addition to papers on bone anchored systems presented from various international experts, Oticon Medical showcased the first Ponto Pro sound processor clinical data, which was based on findings from bone anchored clinics around the world, including the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Denmark, Hong Kong, and the United States.

Patrik Westerkull, development engineer and creator of the Ponto System, also presented a paper that looked at the Ponto system as an illustration of biomechanical and clinical considerations for bone conduction implant and abutment design.

Oticon also led in a series of hands-on workshops on the Ponto system, conducted by Westerkull; Tove Rosenbom, head of Audiology at Oticon Medical; and Ravi Sockalingam, Oticon Medical’s director of Clinical Research and Professional Relations.
