Colorado Springs, Colo — Westone Laboratories has introduced the Westone 4, a four-driver balanced armature universal fit earphone designed specifically for the serious audiophile and music enthusiast.
According to Westone, the earphone is the first of its kind in the world.

Lynn Kehler, president & CEO, Westone, explained in the press statement, “Westone was an early pioneer back in the early 90’s working with bands like Def Leppard and Rush to develop an in-ear monitoring solution to combat excessive stage noise. Developing the first universal four driver product is a statement of our commitment to leading the market with products that are superior in both sound and quality."

The Westone 4 uses a four driver balanced armature design with 3-way crossover to achieve breathtaking clarity and realism. The EPIC Cable (Earphone Precision Interconnect Cable) is reportedly both durable and guards against microphonics.

Westone also designed the earphone with its proprietary "True-Fit" technology, making it lightweight, compact, and comfortable

Westone says it designed the system for video game and music enthusiasts who demand great sound quuality and prefer an alternative to cumbersome over-the-ear headphones.

The Westone 4 will be exhibited for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show January 6, 2011 in Las Vegas. The suggested retail price will be $449 and start shipping early in the first quarter of 2011.
