The Hearing Heath Fair in September in the Denver area to be hosted by Cochlear Americas will provide an opportunity for people who struggle with hearing aids to learn more about the latest hearing treatment options.

The fair is to be held on September 18 from 8 am to 2 pm at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel, 7007 S Clinton St, Greenwood Village, Colo.

The event will include captioned informational sessions with medical professionals from the Denver area who will explain why hearing loss occurs and why hearing aids may not be enough for some. The latest treatment options, including cochlear implants and Baha devices will be discussed, as will insurance reimbursement.

Colorado has more than 418,000 people who are identified as deaf or hard of hearing (Colorado Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing). According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, aging plays a significant role in hearing loss. Rates of hearing loss jump from 18% for ages 45 to 64 to 30% for ages 65 to 74, and 47%  for those 75 and older.

Beyond the science, attendees can meet cochlear implant users and hear their stories firsthand, and share their own challenges and experiences. Refreshments will be served.
