The Hearing Rehabilitation Foundation, Somerville, Mass, and University of South Florida will co-host the Fifth International Adult Aural Rehabilitation Conference in Tampa, Fla, from March 16 to 18, 2009. 

The theme is: "Hearing Aids, Cochlear Implants, and Beyond: Optimizing Outcomes for Adults with Hearing Loss."

Past meetings have highlighted work conducted worldwide, with participants hailing from Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and the United States.

Invited speakers include:

  • Arthur Boothroyd, distinguished professor emeritus, City University of New York; distinguished visiting scientist, House Ear Institute, Los Angeles; and scholar in residence, San Diego State University.
  • Harvey Dillon, director of research, National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL), Sydney, Australia
  • Mary-Beth Jennings, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada.
