Apple and Gallaudet University have teamed up to offer iPad Pros, Apple Pencils, and Smart Keyboard Folios to students and faculty enrolled in the 2020 fall semester, according to an article on the Apple website.

The initiative, part of a program called “Collective Gallaudet,” aims to promote equity and belonging, bilingual mission, and innovation, according to the article.

“We are grateful to Apple for entering into this exciting collaboration with us, and for its support in so many other ways,” Roberta J. Cordano, president of Gallaudet University, was quoted as saying in the article. “While ‘Connected Gallaudet’ was in the works even before the novel coronavirus pandemic, it has become transformational for us as we moved entirely online for the fall semester.”

Additionally, Apple and Gallaudet have collaborated on new scholarships for students of color with disabilities who are pursuing degrees in STEM fields like information technology, computer science, and math. These students will also be able to participate in Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
