The third annual AudBoss Private Practice Summit, a conference for audiologist and hearing care professional business owners, was held October 4-7 at the Confidante Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. The event drew a reported 350 attendees, both in person and virtual, making it the largest AudBoss Summit to date in spite of the fact that the original planned venue, a cruise, was cancelled. This necessitated AudBoss organizers April Royan, MA, and Amit Gosalia, AuD, to quickly pivot and move the summit to the Confidante Hotel, then shore up the educational and entertaining conference within 30 days.
Topics from leaders in the profession included expanding your influence, incorporating vestibular testing and treatment in practices, unbundling, cognitive screenings, best practices post-pandemic, billing/coding hurdles, effective precepting, sanitizing equipment, and many other topics to help audiology and hearing care practices.
The Summit was supported by over 30 industry partners who the organizers say reported exceptional ROI from the event. “This is probably the best hearing healthcare conference I’ve ever been to, out of all the conferences over the years,” said HearWorks Co-founder Erik Sorenson. “Seriously, it’s an incredible experience with great people.”
Special networking events at the Summit began with Mastermind sessions by HearWorks, a happy hour sponsored by Human Interest and Paylocity, and a welcome reception under the stars sponsored by Starkey. The second day ended with a pig roast at the 1930’s House sponsored by Cognivue. Finally, the summit culminated Wednesday evening with an 80’s-themed party, including a costume contest, sponsored by HearWorks.
Founded by founded by Gosalia and Royan, the AudBoss Private Practice Facebook group started in 2017, with the goal of allowing hearing care business owners to discuss the rewards and challenges of ownership. Now at over 800 members, the group says it is the largest independent private practice organization in the industry. Although the Facebook page is strictly reserved for owners and key decision makers, the summit is open to anyone in hearing healthcare.
