“At Starkey, we believe in better,” said Starkey President and CEO Brandon Sawalich. “We know when people can hear, they engage with the world around them and live better, healthier lives. With the launch of Livio AI, we began providing people of all ages the opportunity to take a proactive approach to their overall health and wellness. With our latest launch of the new Livio Edge AI, we are pushing the boundaries even further, helping patients in ways never before possible within this industry.”

Starkey’s Livio Edge AI hearing aids use artificial intelligence to “optimize for speech understanding.”  With a double tap, Edge Mode conducts “an AI-based analysis of the acoustic environment and makes immediate adjustments,” according to the company.  As a Healthable hearing aid, it also helps allow users to “take a proactive approach to their health and wellness with brain and body activity tracking.” It tracks daily steps, measures movement, and monitors vigorous physical activity. It also monitors the users’ level of social engagement by tracking active listening.

“We are honored to receive this award from the medical community,” said Chief Health Officer Archelle Georgiou, MD. “We are working hard to change the conversation about hearing health care, to help people understand that better hearing isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s essential to overall health. And, hearing aids that improve sound quality do so much more than improve communication. They decrease the risk of dementia, depression, falls, and injuries.”
