ZPower's Barry Freeman Presents at ILAA 2015
ZPower, a California-based developer of rechargeable, silver-zinc batteries for hearing aids, has announced that its vice president of business development, Barry A. Freeman, PhD, will speak at the Illinois Academy of Audiology (ILAA) conference, held January 29-30 at the Chicago Hilton. According to ZPower, the 21st annual ILAA is themed “Keeping an Ear Toward the Future” and will highlight developments that include wireless connectivity to hearing instruments, telehealth, amplification diagnostics, pediatrics, tinnitus and practice management.
According to ZPower’s announcement, Dr Freeman’s presentation “Recharging Your Practice” will illustrate how offering patients rechargeable silver zinc batteries for their current hearing devices can bring value to an audiology practice, and is an effective way to differentiate and increase overall service to audiology clientele.
Dr Freeman has over 35 years of experience serving the audiology community, according to the company. He was founding chair and professor of audiology at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Dr Freeman has taught audiology at Syracuse, Vanderbilt, and Nova Southeastern University, and maintains adjunct professorships at Florida International University, Nova Southeastern, Lamar University, Pacific University, and the University of South Florida. He has published more than 50 professional articles and book chapters and continues to lecture and give presentations around the world.
Dr Freeman is a past-president of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and served on the academy’s board of directors for 6 years. He continues to serve on professional boards including as vice president for professional activities of the Florida Academy of Audiology, and as a member of the advisory board of the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE). He received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the AAA in 2006.
