The Hear the World Foundation has received support from an unexpected source: GN Otometrics, a leading manufacturer of audiological instruments and software, and member of the Danish-based Great Nordic (GN) Group, a rival of the group that established Hear the World, Sonova. Thanks to the partnership, the foundation will be able to provide its project partners all over the world with the latest technology for diagnosing hearing loss and fitting hearing solutions.

Creating a world in which everyone has the chance to enjoy better hearing and lead a life without limitations is the vision of the Swiss-based Sonova Group. Sonova set up the nonprofit Hear the World Foundation in 2006 to help people with hearing loss all over the world who cannot afford or do not have access to audiological care. The foundation particularly supports projects aimed at helping children in need, to allow them to develop at an appropriate rate for their age.

GN Otometrics is the world’s market leader of hearing and balance instrumentation and software. For more than 50 years, the company has provided solutions ranging from newborn hearing screening applications and audiologic diagnostics to comprehensive hearing instrument fitting and balance testing. As part of its partnership with Hear the World, GN Otometrics will now provide the foundation with solutions for diagnosing hearing loss and fitting hearing aids at favorable rates. This allows the Foundation to offer audiological support at the highest level. In addition, local project partners will receive training on use of the equipment to ensure the clinical value which can be contributed is fully maximized.

“We are delighted to have acquired a strong partner in GN Otometrics, who is supporting our foundation by providing state-of-the-art technology and training expertise. This partnership brings us another step closer to realizing our vision of creating a world in which everyone has the chance to enjoy better hearing and lead a life without limitations,” explains Lukas Braunschweiler, President of the Hear the World Foundation and CEO of Sonova.

“Our core purpose in Otometrics is to improve the lives of people with hearing and balance problems,” says Søren Holst, President of Otometrics. “In our minds this fits perfectly with the mission of the Hear the World Foundation and we are proud to be able to contribute to their great work around the world. We hope that our equipment will make a difference where it is needed the most.”
