It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend,  Neil DiSarno, PhD, passed away on April 2, 2020. Neil had been bravely battling cancer for a long time.  Neil served as ASHA’s Chief Staff Officer for Audiology since August 2012.

I met Neil decades ago while he was Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Missouri State University (MSU). Dr DiSarno had a keen interest in the AuD movement, and his personal guidance and counsel were always thought-provoking and well-reasoned. While at MSU, he developed and taught classes in practice management, pediatric audiology, auditory electrophysiology, sign language, and he was a total joy to work with.

Above all else, Neil was a genuinely kind person, always gracious, respectful, thoughtful and forthright, and always with a smile.  Per Neil’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service.
