The Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) awarded its Outstanding AuD Student Scholarship to Marissa Mendrygal January 26 during a third-year student presentation event at the Callier Center in Dallas. The award was presented by AFA Chair Deborah Price, AuD.

The scholarship grants Mendrygal $4,500 in support of her academic endeavors as a third-year student at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). Mendrygal was nominated for the award by the faculty at UTD for her academic achievement, individual leadership, clinical skills and local and international community service.

“As I read over all of Marissa’s credits and accomplishments, and saw the outstanding things she has done, it just made me so proud that this caliber of student chose the profession of audiology,” Price said. “She is an outstanding student and will be a real credit to the profession. It was a joy to present her with this award.”

The Outstanding AuD Student Scholarships were established to recognize and support the “best and brightest” AuD students. These scholarships are funded by a grant from the Oticon Foundation.
