Jay Vachhani

The Audiology Foundation of America (AFA), Lafayette, Ind, has awarded its annual Outstanding AuD Student Scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year in the amount of $4,500 to second-year AuD student Jay Vachhani, from Rush University.

In her recommendation letter, Rush University Program Director Patricia McCarthy, PhD, said Vachhani’s unique background combined with his innate intelligence, lofty personal goals, respectful interpersonal skills, and sense of commitment to the profession are assets that will contribute to his success as an audiologist, according to a statement from the AFA.

The scholarship, established to recognize and support top AuD students, is funded through annual contributions to the AFA from audiology practitioners, says the AFA. Vachhani will be honored by the AFA at an event held at his university later this summer, says the organization.
