Oticon Inc, Somerset, NJ, has purchased a 162,000-square-foot office building that will enable the company to move its administrative offices and laboratory facilities to one central location.

In recent years, the continued growth in work force and operations of the US headquarters has required the company to occupy two locations in Somerset. The newly purchased five-story office complex, located at 580 Howard Ave in Somerset, less than 1 mile from the current headquarters buildings, will be completely renovated to accommodate Oticon Inc’s signature open workspace office design and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.

“In seeking a new location, one of our primary goals was to secure a location that was close to home so that we could retain our most valued assets, our skilled and dedicated workforce,” said Oticon President Peer Lauritsen. “We will renovate the building from top to bottom to provide a professional environment that our associates will be proud to come to work to and that will allow us to continue to attract and retain the talented employees needed to deliver world-class hearing solutions and services.”

With 162,000 square feet of office space, the new location is nearly three times the size of the company’s current headquarters locations. The property, situated on approximately 9 acres in a corporate setting, features a distinct architectural design accentuated by a dramatic three-story lobby and floors with high window-to-floor ratio.

Renovation will commence in fall 2010 and the company aims to complete work on the building by end of summer 2011. “We are in the process of developing design for a generous, open space floor plan that optimizes work flow and allows us to improve accuracy and efficiencies,” said Tom Falvey, VP of Operations, for Oticon Inc.
