GN ReSound, Bloomington, Minn, has announced the hiring of Rodger Bakke to the GN ReSound Sales Team. Bakke will cover the Gulf Coast region (Louisiana) and Florida region. As an inside sales representative, his responsibilities will include educating customers about the products, services, and special programs offered by the company. He will also partner with Outside Sales Representatives Field Smith and Greg Stafford to help build relationships and meet the needs of hearing health care offices in their territories. Bakke has 25 years of sales experience, 13 of which are industry related. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS in business administration, and is a member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.
Unitron Hearing, Plymouth, Minn, has announced the following new hires: Sara Sable has been appointed to regional sales manager, responsible for sales in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. She is a graduate of Ohio State University; Dawn Fadely, MS, has been named regional sales manager for southern California and Nevada. She worked as a CFY audiologist in California before joining the company; Michelle Erickson has been named regional sales manager, responsible for sales in Illinois and Indiana; Cathy Carlson has been appointed to the position of sales representative, responsible for the eastern region; John Tetreault has also been named sales representative for the eastern region; and Emma Atkinson-Hussey, MA, has joined the professional services department.
Micro-Tech Hearing Instruments, Plymouth, Minn., announces the hiring of Kevin Amdahl as audiologist for the education and training department. Amdahl earned his MA in Audiology at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, and has been the director of audiology at a private dispensing practice in St Cloud, Minn, for the past 6 years. Amdahl will be working directly with clients to provide them with up-to-date knowledge about current technology. The company also announces the following hirings: Lisa Pollack has joined the marketing department. She recently graduated from St Cloud State University, Minn, and will be writing, designing, and editing internal and customer-based media. William Savage has been promoted to sales representative. Savage graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and has been with Micro-Tech since August 1999. Al Turri has been hired as a regional sales representative. He graduated from the University of South Florida with an M.S. degree in audiology, and will be working in territory one, which services the states of Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Mexico, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Washington, and Oregon.
Bernafon Inc, Eden Prairie, Minn, welcomed Nancy Tyra-Lukens, Eden Prairies mayor, for a tour of its headquarters last month. During her visit, she was given a tour of the facility by Bernafon president Peter Van Nest.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Washington, DC, has named an audiologist as one of two winners of the annual Olin E. Teague Award for their contributions to improving the quality of life of disabled veterans. Douglas Noffsinger, PhD, chief of audiology and speech pathology at the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System, received one of the awards in Washington recently. The Olin E. Teague Award is named for the late former chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, who was a strong advocate for veterans. Noffsinger led VAs collaboration with national hearing and speech organizations in developing clinical practice guidelines now followed by audiologists in selecting and fitting hearing aids. His recent research focused on the effectiveness of electronic circuits in hearing aids.
