Phonak, a provider of hearing instruments and wireless communication solutions, has announced the appointment of Barb VanSomeren as Vice President of Marketing for Phonak US. In her role, VanSomeren serves as a member of the executive leadership team and oversees the day-to-day operations of the company’s marketing, communications, and product marketing teams across Phonak’s daily and extended wear businesses.

VanSomeren is a hearing industry veteran, having spent over 15 years as Vice President of Marketing within the GN Group. During her time there, she served on several end-user engagement teams and led the development strategy for patient and practice management systems. According to the company’s announcement, VanSomeren’s marketing achievements include expanding the patient experience, creating strong brand awareness, and delivering turn-key digital marketing services that help professionals generate leads and increase revenue.  Prior to her hearing industry experience, VanSomeren worked in advertising on leading brands such as Anheuser Busch, Midas International, Pizza Hut, and Coca-Cola.

VanSomeren is native of Chicago, where she currently lives with her family.  She has served on several nonprofit boards, including Chicago Sister Cities, Chicago Innovation, and the Hearing Industries Association Marketing Board. She earned her BA in Business Communications from Western Illinois University.
