BHILogo In preparation for Better Hearing & Speech Month in May, the Better Hearing Institute (BHI) has invited hearing care professionals to join the organization in raising awareness about the link between hearing loss and other health issues. In BHI’s April 29 e-newsletter it provides the following tips:

1) Adapt this press release for your business purposes. Use it for your own blog, practice, or local community and media.

2) Post on social media. Adapt the following sample social media posts for Facebook and/or Twitter:

  • #Hearingloss linked to other health issues. Check your hearing for Better Hearing & Speech Month @ www.BetterHearing.org. #BHSM
  • Depression & hearing loss linked. Check your hearing for Better Hearing & Speech Month @ www.BetterHearing.org. #BHSM #depression
  • Heart disease & hearing loss linked. Check your hearing for Better Hearing & Speech Month @ www.BetterHearing.org. #BHSM #heartdisease
  • Diabetes & hearing loss linked. Check your hearing for Better Hearing & Speech Month @ www.BetterHearing.org. #BHSM #diabetes
  • Hearing loss & cognitive decline linked. Check your hearing for Better Hearing & Speech Month @ www.BetterHearing.org. #BHSM #dementia

Be sure to use the #BHSM hashtag on all your Better Hearing & Speech Month tweets.

3) Attract attention with visual social media. Visit http://ow.ly/wfzYI to download an infographic, a social media profile picture, and web banners that you can use with social media to catch attention and spread the word.

4) Join BHI’s “Listen to Hearing Loss!” Thunderclap. Thunderclap is a tool that allows us to sync a Twitter and/or Facebook message so we can all shout it out at once—automatically. See how it works by going to http://ow.ly/wfAWd. Sign up today to help us amplify our message, which is slated to go out on May 22nd.
