Copenhagen-based GN Otometrics (US headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill) unveiled the latest version of its newborn hearing screening device, the Madsen AccuScreen, this June in Italy. An intuitive two-step OAE and ABR screening device, AccuScreen offers touch-screen technology and features a multipurpose docking station, powerful software, an angled probe, and dual-density ear couplers. Any combination of DPOAE, TEOAE, and ABR test is available, while ABR testing can be done using either the probe or ear couplers.

Welch Allyn OAE Hearing Screener

Welch Allyn, Skaneateles Falls, NY, offers its OAE Hearing Screener for precise, quick, and objective screening for hearing loss in newborns, infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. The unit is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery and features a 10-test memory with simple interface with included printer. Patient information can be downloaded into a PC ASCII file. It comes with a 1-year warranty and can be fitted with a variety of ear tip sizes.

Natus Medical Inc, San Carlos, Calif, offers its Algo 5 newborn hearing screener, incorporating the company’s proprietary AABR technology. The fully automated Algo 5 objectively screens both ears simultaneously and comes with completely standardized, preset screening parameters that need no adjustments. Data can be transferred via network, CD, or USB flash drive, and is compatible with a variety of data management systems including Natus’ proprietary program.
