The American Academy of Audiology (AAA), the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) announced that they have endorsed this legislation as a “top priority to ensure expedient and optimal hearing and balance health care for the older adult population in the United States.”
US Senators Elizabeth Warren and Rand Paul have introduced the Audiology Patient Choice Act, which is designed to ensure that seniors and people with disabilities on Medicare have access to a full range of hearing and balance health care services provided by licensed audiologists. The bill mirrors legislation introduced in the US House last year and has a history of contention between the hearing healthcare professional organizations.
