Purdue University Theatre Department announced that it has engaged Gamiotics to implement a new technology at shows on campus, allowing deaf and hearing-impaired audiences to enjoy live performances through the use of closed captioning in the palm of their hands.
The complaint asserts the governor is in violation of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and calls upon him to begin using ASL interpreters immediately, according to an announcement on the DRF website.
An initiative amongst five organizations has led to documents being filed with the US Department of Justice that help improve access to movies in US theaters for deaf and hard of hearing people. The HLAA, NAD, ALDA, and AG Bell met with representatives from the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) to hammer out the agreement on movie captioning.
