The HHCP is uniquely suited to screen their patient’s dementia risk as it relates to their information and auditory processing abilities, audiometric findings, and ability to hear and listen in complex listening environments.
“A diet that is rich in fat and sugar, ie, the typical Western diet, is known to increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, and this way, it possibly also contributes to the development of AD,” said Professor Heikki Tanila from the A. I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland.
The study reports that eliminating hearing loss is highly relevant to reducing new cases of dementia.
