An article in Buzzfeed News points out the unique challenges faced by deaf students unable to return to school after coronavirus lockdowns.

According to the article, which spoke to students enrolled at Gallaudet University, “being forced to abruptly leave [her] school months early has sparked panic, fear, dread, and anxiety, students said—not just because of the comfort and social connection fostered by the campus but also the stability, acceptance, and services that deaf students do not have access to when they go home.”

Additionally, online learning may present greater challenges for deaf students, many of whom rely on visual learning environments.
